July 11th - July 18th His first baptism!
Monday - we had a crazy good PDay! Loved it! The Lebanon Elders and sisters and us played mini golf! It was so much fun! We took pictures, unfortunatly I haven't gotten them yet, but they will hopefully be coming later tonight haha. Later, we went and saw the Mohns, we shared with them favorite scriptures and had a neat discussion! Later, we called it a night haha we also had exchanges with Lebanon.
Tuesday - Today I kicked it with Elder Hill. We went and saw the Brigham's, which was a riot haha they are so funny! Brother Brigham's eye surgery is working great and he is really excited to come back to church! After that we went to try and find more people, but couldn't unfortunately. We saw a less active who's a little coo coo, sister B. got baptized a millennia ago because she had a huge crush on the elders. And she's still single haha but she believes in God, reincarnation, hates organized religion and reads because we tell her to. Unfortunately elder Hill didn't say anything and I was thinking to myself "wth grandma" and we where really tired so it was a mess. We both where like "dang.." So we left to try and find more people. Which failed. Always happens with exchanges. Oh well, tomorrow will be better!
Wednesday - We went to Plymouth for Zone Interviews! I love President Blair! He's got the Greenie fire going strong! Haha we talked about me, my mission and things I need help with. He's the funniest, but also very spiritual and inspired man. He's so awesome! I later talked with Sister Blair and for whatever reason, she asked my plans after the mission and we had a 30 min convo on marriage! Lol silly goose! She's also, very funny! After interviews we talked with the other missionaries for a while until we went to Laconia for exchanges. I was with Elder Hannig! Who's a boss! We went and tried to see a couple people and we where able to see a lady, who's name I can't remember, who offered her daughter to me to wife... Elder Hannig looked and me, I looked at him, then and her and said "I've still got a while on my mission..." I felt so awkward!! Usually I wouldn't be, comes to show how sheltered you become on the mission, never had a problem talking about anything but there, my knees where slamming on each other from the shaking and I felt like I was gonna melt because I didn't know what to say haha but that's okay, we taught them about temples, ironically, because her mom wants to go do sealings.. Just was a awkward and uncomfortable 45 min haha after, we went home to gather ourselves and I did language study until the other elders came home.
Thursday - Elder Hannig and I set out to find some people, I brought a pair of horrible shoes so I got wicked crazy blisters on my feet, but that's okay because I got to drive haha love it! Anyway, we talked to an investigator and she was like "you new here? Cuz you kinda cool" I felt awesome ;) anyway, we confirmed our appointment for next week and headed off. We then went to dump trash at the church, and talked to the yard worker for a few. Then we went to an island to talk to an older couple, who's granddaughter that just graduated, was hitting on me.. I've gained some weight over the past few areas, I can't even look at myself, why do they keep hitting on me!! I just feel so weird and so... Awkward haha after that we called it a night and elder Timothy and I headed home. While, the whole car ride, a potential was trying to hit on us.. Dang.. Craziness.
Friday - We pretty much went and cleaned the font for the baptism tomorrow and did weekly planning all day. It was a busy day planning tho.
Saturday - We went and saw Chris who had bad PTSD, feel so sorry for him. His house is the most grossest thing ever. Cat and dog hair, pee, poop, everything everywhere.. He let us inside, and we read the Book of Mormon. When I was breathing, I was literally choking on the ammonia. It was so bad, but in the middle of reading the Book of Mormon he yells "WIZARDS!!!!!" And he told us he was invisible, which he clearly wasn't haha but he freaked out and said "I got him" so we left, smelling so so bad. I had been given some "girl spray" here in the mission (body spray from bath and boy shop) and I soaked myself in that and it seemed to make me a little more presentable... Oh man... Later, we went to an "old fogy" party haha with some widowed ward members, they got KFC and we talked and had a load of fun! It was way awesome to talk to Grandma Chris! She's funny! Later, we went to fill the font and that's where the fun began.
When we got there we went straight to the font and turned on the hot water at 3:00pm. The hot water lasts for 1 min, then we had to wait for 5 min to get more. So while we struggled with that, we, at 5:00pm started to get nervous because the font was nowhere close to being filled. So, we went and got a hose and hooked it to the facet in the bathroom and ran it into the font with hot water, which only lasted about 15 min. The church was out of hot water on a 95 degree day. So while that was filling, after we canned it and left the Luke warm water go, we went to get the programs from the library that the Lebanon bishop put them in there. So we went and put the key in the lock and it snapped... The key broke in the lock...
Dang you Satan..
So we panicked..
5:50pm, fonts not filled, people aren't here, we are printing new programs at the speed of light, it's 105* in the relief society room, but, SHANNON GOT BAPTIZED!! Totally worth it!! It was so awesome! Come 6:20 when we started the baptism, the font was filled, decent temp, programs out and spirit present! After the amazing baptism we got in the car and drove home where, I found the bishop's church key.... In our apartment.. We got so mad we went to bed haha crazy day!
Sunday - we had a good day at church, definitely needed, Shannon got confirmed, all was awesome. We stayed for the Lebanon sacrament because Elder Liljenquist and sister Galbraith had talks and we wanted to watch. Worth it, later, we went and studied and headed to try and find some potentials. Instead we taught Dakota, she's awesome. Her little sister Christiana who's like 5 sprayed me with water. It felt so nice, but not needed on my shirt haha oh well, it dried up. We then went to the Haehnels for dinner and had a wonderful chat and a meal with them. I love them so much! They are proper, but loving and know how to have fun! It was much needed. Afterwords we went and taught Will Mohn the first step in the LDS Addiction Recovery Program. The spirit was so so strong! He was clearly humbled and he's got that desire to stop chewing! I feel like this program is a little extreme for him, but he needs it. Then after its all done, they all can be baptized! Needed that lesson also. We called it a night after.
What a crazy week! It's amazing what can happen to us as missionaries. This week was just getting better and better, Satan working so hard to not get Shannon baptized, get us in trouble and... Gosh it's intense. But it was a fun ride!!
Through all this I have been studying how to bare my testimony in Spanish, it's simple, and may be a little broken, but I'll share it with you all.
Short and simple. Working on new words and phrases, also with praying. Anyway, love you all and hope you all have an amazing week!
