April 11th - April 18th

Hola mis amigos y familia!

Monday - we had such a relaxing and chill day today. We visited some stores and slept a lot.. It was nice :D we even got to watch meet the Mormons and a few other face to face broadcasts. I learned that Lindsey sterling served a mission in the New York, New York north mission, pretty rad!

Tuesday - raining.. Messy.. Nasty.. Butt!! We had a good day! We went to Matt's and talked about sacrament and then we went to have a great dinner with brother Horrock, he's super funny! He served his mission in Australia, he has great stories! He's a really intelligent person and he knows his stuff really well! We all together made burgers and nachos and potatoes for dinner, way fun, way full of spirit. We shared the "Flocks of Gold" video and talked about how the little blessings can come together into a big blessing and not to discount the small ones because that's where everything starts, small and simple. Love him! Can't wait to see him more.

Wednesday - we had a good day, we went street contacting today and we where able to talk to a few people at the Duckie pond and get to know them a little bit, that was way cool. After that, we where doing stuff at the apartment and then we went to the church for mutual and talked to some adults and taught the deacons about the priesthood and the sacrament and their role as a priesthood holder. Pretty awesome! I guess the Utah Rugby Team is going to the JSM (Joseph Smith Memorial) to play and everyone's all hyped about that, way cool their coming here tho! After that we set some dinner appointments and came home and had dinner and did the nightly planning. While we where at the church, we where talking to Brother Pierson and giving him encouragement because there are some difficult deacons and he's exercising his patience haha, we really felt the spirit with him. He's super grateful for us being there, the whole ward is grateful haha

Thursday - Today we had zone interviews! We talked a lot about prayer and we discussed how to make prayers more meaningful. We also discussed more basics like knowing for ourselves that we are children of God! We also talked about obedience, humility and a hard one..... Sarcasm... Oh boy haha we discussed how we can still have fun, but do it professionally, which will be hard. Also, I GET TO OFFICIALLY LEARN SPANISH!!!! I'm super stoked!! I so happy that I was able to be trusted to do that, I asked and President Stoker said I was the first missionary he's met that asked to learn a new language and he will keep up with my progress and determine when I'm ready to go to the Spanish branch in Lawrence! Way excited!!! I'm going to need everyone's support and prayers that I can learn this, tips and help suggestions are all welcome and we will see what happens later on in my mission! I can't wait!! Soy muy agradecido!! Also, Elder Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is coming to speak at our mission!!! Way cool!! Elder Chase (who is my second oldest brother because he was Elder Paces second trainee) is Elder Rasband's grandson!! I can't wait to see him and shake his hand and officially meet a member of the Twelve!!! We then went down to Hampton beach, where, it was the ghetto.. But we saw the nice, open coast and were able to drive around and plan out areas to park and walk around for later in the future. After that we came home for the night.

Friday - Today we did some service at the food pantry and we where able to talk to a few people and see how they are doing. We also went less active hunting in the parts of our area where we really can get to because we have the miles to do so, so we did it. haha We then came home and studies Spanish a little more and where able to make some calls and set appointments. Today during less active hunting we saw this kid who looked about 10-12, and we drive by him laughing so hard because why? He was standing outside his house, nothing around him, holding a "for free" sign haha we laughed and then said "poor kid" haha oh boy.. I'm going crazy out here! But it's so much fun!

Saturday - First thing we did today is we got up and went to Zions camp (a church run camp)!! We went and did service! We helped level out the base of the garage driveway and we helped move gravel. That place is way cool! We got special permission to use the trucks and atvs and other machines for bigger projects, way cool! There manual trucks too ;) after that we came home and showered and did more studies. Later, we went to taco ball because the Idells where cutting our hair and they love Taco Bell and we met there to have some dinner. While we where there a really nice dude named Chris who was manning the register, talked to us! He said he was looking forward to the meetings but they never showed up, so we got his address and his number and we will be seeing him on Tuesday. We gave him 2 book of Mormons! He's a way cool dude, sat down and talked with him for about 10 min, got to know him. He will be coming to church on Thursday for volleyball and the Idells and him talked about rides to church! This is awesome! Last we went to the Idell's home and played some games and got haircuts. They are a really funny family! So full of love and so full of sarcasm! Love it! After that we went home because it was getting late haha great day!

Sunday - Today was a great day! It was fast Sunday and I fasted for the strength to learn Spanish and to retain the words and how to speak it. It's going great! We where able to introduce ourselves to the ward and express our love for them and bear testimony of prayer. The spirit was powerful! In second hour, we had a great lesson about faith from Brother Idell and 3rd hour we where with the teachers learning about the priesthood. After church we had a meeting with brother Larsen about the ward and the area, after, we went to the Buldics and had a great BBQ dinner! Wow it was amazing! After that, we went home. Pretty busy day but also very rewarding!

Last night the BYU RugbyTeam played at a field in Vermont then went to the Joseph Smith Memorial and a couple ward members where borderline gonna call Pres stoker and have us go with them, but unfortunately we couldn't do that as missionaries which was a little sad, but we saw videos and pictures of the event and it was crazy cool! So that's the rave today haha

Thank you everyone for all you do! I love you all and hope to hear from you soon! Have a wonderful week!

Love, Elder Vogel
