April 18th - April 25th
Monday - We had district P-Day at Zions Camp in Raymond New Hampshire! Way cool!! We played basketball and we played soccer, so much fun! After we all where sweaty and gross we went to the waterfront and hung out a little more, took some wild pics (See above) and headed home. After we got home we showered and went to the Larsens for dinner, their family is way cool! I love them! So much love, so much energy! Their son Tanner is disabled and he's a crack up! When we where leaving, he was saying bye and I told Brother Larsen he should teach him to say "bye Felicia" and when I said that, he said it!!! It was way funny!! And that's what he says from now on, we said one last goodbye to him just to make sure and in the distance you hear "bye fewecia!!!" Lol awesome day!
Tuesday - We woke up, did some studies and we went to take a nap that went... 2 hours... Bad move, but worth because we got no sleep last night.. We then got up and went to get an oil change in our car. They where full so we scheduled a time for tomorrow. After, I studied some more Spanish out of a review text book and I got a headache for about an hour. After that we went to the Duckie pond and we where able to meet a guy named Bill. He thought we where cops haha but we then introduced family history and he was all for it. We gave him a link and our number and we where on our way. When we returned home we grabbed our iPads and headed to the Piersons and had a wonderful dinner and a wonderful spiritual thought. Love that family, they love humor. This mission loves dry humor haha everyone has it, you can't escape it! Brother Pierson served his mission in Madrid Spain and said he will assist me in learning spanish. He's letting me borrow a Spanish book that has all the Spanish verbs and the conjugations of the verbs. Way cool!! After that, we went to the church to meet and talk with bishop Samuelson. It went great! He's super happy we are here, he's super happy we took the initiative and set a time to talk to him. He's excited to work with us, where excited to be here. We are gonna do great!
Wednesday -Today we had a great district meeting! It was us, the Derry Elders and Elder and Sister Simpson! Nice and cozy! It was so fun! After district meeting while we were helping prepare lunch, the church phone rings.. That never rings... As it rang I answered and a guy said "I'm looking for Elder Bundy.." So I gave him the phone and we found out his uncle was in Derry! And he's serving in Derry!! It was funny after we told him he can't see him lol he just kinda looked sad on the table, but I'm sure he went and saw him anyways! After lunch, We took a couple pictures in the sun (see above) and then we went to get the oil changed. It took about an hour, holy smokes, haha in Portsmouth, which wasn't bad. Little trip down memory lane! I'll always love coming back to Portsmouth, I'm definitely gonna visit again! We where driving back to Exeter and we drove past this c6 corvette zr1 and the license plate says "worth-it" and Elder Peterson and I died laughing!! Haha went the to see some people who where very nice and we also stopped by and talked to sister Larsen because we where down the street from her, love her! Afterwords we went back to the apartment and I did some Spanish studying. Today was easier, I've been doing textbook exercises and learning grammar and vocabulary. It's going great! After about 30 min, we went to the church for a meeting with the Elders Quorum Presidency and addressed concerns and how we can help. After that I completed my hour of studies. It is now 10:21pm est and I am going to bed. It's been a busy busy day! Love these days!
Thursday - First thing in the morning we went to Exeter high school because we had a comparative religions class and it was a way cool seminar! High school kids asked great questions! We talked pretty much about the whole religion in about 2 hours. It was pretty quick, subject touched, people engaged and it was way cool. Couple girls stayed after class and talked to us a little more about questions they had about families and stuff like that. We left a box full of stuff and left our number with them and hopefully, something will happen! Everyone that came gave great input and followed the spirit, it was pretty cool and I wish I could do that again because I didn't say much :/ because it was so fast paced, I couldn't keep up fast enough. It was like a 0-60-100-60-0 mph rollout. It picked up quick and stopped quick, pretty cool! But it was a load of fun. Afterwards we came home and had some lunch. Then after we both passed out because of the heat, we woke up just in time to make it to Elder Petersons dentist appointment. While I was there I was reading the story about Nephi going back with his brothers to Jerusalem to try and get the brass plates from Laban in.. SPANISH!! I couldn't believe how much I actually understood! It may be because I know the story, but I was picking out words and it was actually pretty awesome! I shared the story with a little girl named Ashley. She was about 6 years old and she asked what I was reading and I told her the story and she was like "whoa!" Unfortunately, I had no other Books of Mormon so I couldn't give her one :/ but that's okay! I showed her mom how she can! Afterwards we came back home and did some studies then had dinner at the samuelsons! Way awesome family! They love us! They are a big, loud and energetic family! Just like mine! Haha she made an awesome shepards pie! I had 2 big heaps because I was hungry! Haha after that we went to the church and played volleyball with some awesome people! At first, it was kinda awkward because it was only a few of us but then more people showed up and we got crazy! Trash talking and taunting and having a blast! After that we where racing to get home because we where already late getting home.. Oops! Worth it!! Haha
Friday - Friday we has some service at the food pantry and we where able to get a tour and a history lesson about what they do, why and how. Pretty sweet! Later we came come and made some cookies and we went to the ward bake sale! That was way cool seeing a lot of people! We talked, had a great dinner and got to meet some more people! Sister Idell is my "ward mom" because she acts like my mom haha she asked if we wanted the extra hot dogs and I was like "ehh I don't know, I think we're good" "Elder Vogel, are you sure" "I think?" "You're taking them" "okay haha!" She's so awesome! The love of this ward is incredible, they love having us here! They joke, harass and they know we are here to help and they use us haha. We also saw Dylan! So happy to see that dude! He came for the dinner and we were able to talk for a few min. Later, him and Chase left, but that's okay! We helped out in the kitchen with Sister Idell, Sister Soucy and Kaylee, it was way fun joking around with them! Outside was President Soucy and Brother Gish on the bbq and we helped them out, told some stories and then later, we went to hang with the young men for a while. They where playing rugby, showing us their knives and asking us to tell camping stories haha it was a wonderful night, great way to end the day! Looking forward to more ward activities!!
Saturday - We woke up and hit the road to Derry for a day exchange! We started with some service at the Derry ward Building. We went to get food at five guys and then we went to orange leaf, its kinda like Menchies! It's way good!! Then we went to a members house to do some service for a few hours, elder Bundy and I went to Walmart and got a few things and then we headed home. I did some Spanish and waited around for Elders Peterson and Reed later for dinner. After a dinner and telling mission and home stories, we went home, not much today but at the same time, it was a full day!
Sunday - So as I was getting ready this morning, I remembered that I forgot my badge in Derry.. That has my missionary handbook, pocket badge, scriptures, notebooks and some other little things that I need. So, we will see how today will go without half my stuff haha. Good thing I have my iPad still.. Church was great, it was based on trek because that is coming up soon. I loved the testimonies shared from brother Cavarretta and the Idells. I love the classes and the inspiration given to these people today. Sunday church was awesome. Afterwords we came home and did a few things, like eat and sleep for a min, then we went to the church to see brother Larsen for a few then we went to the Gish's for a dinner. Afterwords we went to the Sargents, they are super awesome! They live in a cozy barn, it's way way cool! We shared the mission vision with them and they seemed to love it! After that, we went home.
Awesome week, it flew by fast! But we got so much done. We were in meeting after meeting, seeing lots of people and being on our feet all day! It was a great success! As always it could have been a better week, but that's why we always try harder, and we never have to do it alone!
love, Elder Vogel
